Philosophy of Care
My first step in patient care is to make sure that I am approachable, not intimidating. I want patients to know I understand their questions and concerns and make them feel comfortable so they can relate those questions to me. The only bad question is one that is never asked. Listening is the key to understanding, so that is the best place to start with patient care.
Professional Focus
As a pharmacist, we are the last part of patient communication. If we fail to understand a problem or an issue the patient may have, that can be a concern. We may not have a specific certification for it, but it comes down to compassion, empathy, and great communication skills. Being the last face many patients see at TCCH gives us the opportunity to make that memorable impression or catch any patient concerns, and I think we do a fantastic job at that.
Fun Facts
I enjoy yard work (some people call it gardening), but I have over 80 pineapple plants and enjoy making jam. I have many flowering plants for the butterflies and hummingbirds as well. I really like car shows and different cars events. My wife and I have fun thrift store shopping too. You never know what kind of deals you can find. Another fact about me is that I am very positive that I am a cancer survivor. It is not 100% official yet but I’m pretty confident that I have joined that class!
