Infectious Disease Services
Infectious diseases are caused by harmful organisms that enter an individual’s body from the outside like a virus, bacteria, fungi, or a parasite. Infectious diseases are usually spread person to person by contaminated water or food or through bug bites. Some infectious diseases are serious like HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and hepatitis, and some are minor like the flu or common cold.
Tracking and controlling the spread of infectious disease is very important to the health and productivity of our community. At TCCH, we have care dedicated specifically to infectious diseases, such as hepatitis C, HIV, and STIs.
Our Infectious Disease Nurse, Bonnie Andrus, LPN, provides support for patients every step of the way from testing to on-going treatment and works in conjunction with the Florida Department of Health to make our environment safe and community well-informed.
Our pharmacies at Fellsmere, Gifford, and Oslo also supply medications as you leave the office or delivered to your home.
We work with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance, and a sliding fee discount is available based on income and family size.
If you or a loved one is interested in getting tested or treated for an infectious disease, call Bonnie at 772-257-8224 extension 1261.
