Philosophy of Service

My philosophy of service is rooted in mission stewardship, equity, and accountability to the community we serve. As both a longtime consumer and a Board member, I am deeply committed to protecting access to affordable, high-quality care and ensuring that patient voices are heard at every level of decision-making. I believe everyone deserves compassionate, timely healthcare, regardless of income or life circumstances, and I advocate for policies that remove barriers, promote sustainability, and reflect the real needs of our community.

As a consumer of TCCH for over 20 years, I understand firsthand the importance of affordable, accessible care. I have utilized the sliding scale when needed and insurance when available, and TCCH has cared for my husband, daughter, and granddaughter. This perspective allows me to advocate for decisions that truly reflect patient needs and real-life experiences.

My desire to serve was shaped by both my professional work and my personal history. As a teenager, I experienced homelessness for three years and know firsthand the challenges of lacking access to affordable healthcare and having to rely on emergency services. TCCH does more than provide healthcare, they provide care, concern, and compassion. I have volunteered in the community for many years, which ultimately led to my recruitment to the Board. Serving as Community Outreach Chair and now as Community Outreach Liaison, I remain committed to expanding TCCH’s reach and impact and will continue serving for the next three years in whatever capacity is needed to support the community.

Professional Focus

My areas of focus include access to care, community outreach, patient experience, and health equity. I am especially passionate about ensuring services remain affordable and accessible, including same-day care and sliding-scale options. I also value TCCH’s growth and long-term sustainability, so the organization can continue serving generations of families while staying deeply connected to the community.

Fun Facts

I enjoy being involved in the community, spending time with my family, and continuing to learn and grow both personally and professionally. Giving back has always been important to me, and I value opportunities that allow me to stay connected to people and make a meaningful impact.

Professional Experience

I began my journey with TCCH while pursuing my master’s in social work, serving as an intern with the Coalition of Independent Living Options, where I worked with individuals with disabilities who were also victims of crime. Through my ongoing community involvement, I was invited to join the TCCH Governing Board of Directors, where I have now served for 3½ years. I later earned my LCSW and bring both professional and lived experience to my role, having worked in community mental health and inpatient substance use treatment facilities as a therapist. I currently facilitate substance use and psychoeducation groups and work in a group practice specializing in trauma. Having experience supporting children in foster care, victims of human trafficking, and individuals who are homeless or underserved, I also collaborate and network with local nonprofit organizations to help connect individuals and families to comprehensive services, strengthening access and continuity of care within the community.
